Faculty of Education and Social Work, University of Auckland

What our organisation does

We provide high quality teaching, research and professional development to improve the quality and understanding of education and social services in New Zealand and internationally.

Our data needs

As a Communications Adviser for the Faculty of Education and Social Work, I use national data about education, social work, counselling, and human services for articles I write for the faculty magazine Te Kuaka.

How I use the data

I mainly use census data, but I use other data depending on the topic of the article. The data and facts will often form part of the story to help inform and educate readers.

Why I use Statistics NZ data

I use Statistics NZ as I am confident it is a reliable source of accurate data. It is also a one-stop shop for a range of statistics and facts, which is helpful. The build-it-yourself tables are easy to use; however, if I am seeking advanced data, the staff at Statistics NZ are always available to help.

How I access the data

Through the website, over the phone and by direct email with the helpful staff.
