For people identifying with the Polish ethnic group living in New Zealand on 5 March 2013:

  • 35.4 percent were born in New Zealand, up from 33.6 percent in 2006. This compares with 83.2 percent for the total European ethnic group, and 74.8 percent for the total New Zealand population in 2013.

For the 1,389 people identifying with the Polish ethnic group who were born overseas and living in New Zealand on 5 March 2013:

  • 81.6 percent were born in Poland.
  • 25.1 percent had arrived in New Zealand less than five years ago, compared with 26.5 percent in 2006.
  • 38.1 percent had arrived in New Zealand 20 or more years ago.
