Statistics New Zealand helps deliver Better Public Services for Business

Result Area 9 Action Plan released 30 August 2012

Statistics NZ has worked closely with the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Inland Revenue, and the Accident Compensation Corporation to develop and deliver the Better Public Services for Business – Result 9 Action Plan.

The action plan, released by Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce today, outlines how businesses will find it easier to work with the government.

The target is to reduce the business costs from dealing with government each year, by a total of 25 percent by 2017. Business will also be able to go online to rate government services against their key performance ratings by 2017.

Result Area 10 was also released by Minister Chris Tremain today. It aims to increase the average number of New Zealanders who complete common transactions with government easily in a digital environment from 24 to 70 percent.

Statistics NZ provides technical advice around the technology aspects needed for business (Result Area 9) and all New Zealanders (Result Area 10) to access combined digital services from across government departments.

You can find out more about Result Area 10 by visiting the Department of Internal Affairs website.

Statistics NZ’s work in these Results Areas demonstrates the organisation’s leadership and commitment in creating more efficient, accessible, and coordinated government services. It is also is a great example of Statistics NZ’s leadership role in the wider Official Statistical System.

You can read more about the overall Better Public Services programme by visiting the State Services Commission website.
