Gross Domestic Product: June 2011 quarter

Highlights

Gross domestic product (GDP):

  • Economic activity was up 0.1 percent in the June 2011 quarter.
  • The largest increases were in finance, insurance, and business services (up 1.5 percent) and agriculture (up 4.3 percent).
  • Construction activity fell 4.3 percent.
  • For the year ended June 2011 gross domestic product increased 1.5 percent.

For the expenditure measure of GDP:

  • The expenditure measure of GDP was up 0.1 percent in the June 2011 quarter.
  • Household consumption expenditure was up 0.3 percent.
  • Export volumes were down 0.5 percent, while imports were up 1.7 percent.
  • For the year ended June 2011 expenditure on GDP increased 1.6 percent.
