Productivity Statistics: 1978−2010

Highlights
  • Labour productivity rose 0.9 percent per year over the 2006–10 period, compared with annual growth of 2.0 percent from 1978–2010.
 
  • Multifactor productivity fell 0.5 percent per year over the 2006–10 period, compared with annual growth of 1.0 percent from 1978–2010.
  • Capital productivity fell 2.3 percent per year over the 2006–10 period, compared with an annual fall of 0.6 percent from 1978–2010.
 
  • After accounting for differences in the skill composition of workers, labour productivity rose 0.6 percent annually over the 2006–10 period, lower than the headline labour productivity measure.
