Government Finance Statistics (Local Government): Year ended June 2014

Key facts

In the year ended June 2014 compared with the year ended June 2013:

  • GFS showed a net operating surplus of $0.9 billion for local government.
  • Operating income increased 0.6 percent to $9.1 billion, and expenses increased 2.0 percent to $8.2 billion.
  • The net acquisition of non-financial assets, including infrastructure, totalled $1.6 billion.
  • Net borrowing was $0.7 billion, down from $1.2 billion in 2013.

  • Total assets increased $6.3 billion, to $120.4 billion, mostly due to upward revaluations.
  • Total liabilities increased $0.7 billion, to $13.6 billion.
  • Total net worth was $106.8 billion, up from $101.3 billion in 2013.
