Revision of Māori benchmarks
The benchmarks for the Māori working-age population used in the September 2011 quarter have been revised. A minor error was found, which resulted in overstated Māori benchmarks. Hence, data released in the September 2011 quarter has been revised in the December 2011 quarter release.
At the aggregate level these changes had a small effect on the data – for example, the number of people employed increased by 200. The number of Māori employed decreased by 1,900 while the employment rate decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 57.3 percent. The labour force participation rate remained unchanged.
