Building Consents Issued: September 2010

Highlights
  • The seasonally adjusted number of new dwelling units authorised, excluding apartments, fell 2.6 percent; the third consecutive decrease.
  • The trend for the number of new dwellings authorised, excluding apartments, has been falling since March 2010 (following increases that began in April 2009).
  • 1,262 new dwellings were authorised, including apartments. 
  • 60 new apartment units were authorised (including 50 retirement village units).
  • For September 2010 compared with September 2009, the value of residential building consents fell $30 million (6.2 percent) and the value of non-residential building consents rose $108 million (42 percent).
