Retail Trade Survey: August 2008

Highlights

For August 2008 compared with July 2008 (on a seasonally adjusted basis):

  • Total retail sales rose 0.4 percent ($20 million).
  • Core retail sales rose 0.8 percent ($32 million).
  • Supermarket and grocery stores sales rose 1.2 percent ($14 million).
  • Automotive fuel retailing sales fell 3.3 percent ($21 million).
  • In 14 industries, sales moved up or down by less than $2 million.

The total retail sales trend remains flat.
