We republished Retail Trade Survey: December 2016 quarter on 27 February 2017 to correct an error in the calculation of the fuel deflator.

For the December 2016 quarter, compared with the September 2016 quarter (seasonally adjusted):

  • The total volume of retail sales rose 0.6 percent.   
  • Ten of the 15 industries had higher sales volumes.
  • The motor-vehicle and parts retailing industry had the largest sales increases in both volume and values.
  • The total value of retail sales rose 1.1 percent.
