Retail Trade Survey: July 2008

Highlights

For July 2008 compared with June 2008 (on a seasonally adjusted basis):

  • Total retail sales fell 0.8 percent ($44 million).
  • Core retail sales fell 0.2 percent ($8 million).
  • Motor vehicle retailing sales fell 5.3 percent ($32 million).
  • Supermarket and grocery stores sales fell 2.0 percent ($24 million).
  • Twelve of the 24 retail industries had sales movements of less than plus or minus $4 million.

The total retail sales trend has been flat since December 2007.
