Retail Trade Survey: March 2010 quarter

Highlights
For the March 2010 quarter compared with the December 2009 quarter (seasonally adjusted):
  • Total retail sales value rose 0.5 percent (up $86 million).
  • Total retail sales volume rose 0.2 percent.
  • Core retail sales value fell 0.7 percent (down $87 million).
  • Core retail sales volume fell 0.5 percent.
  • Automotive fuel retailing had the biggest value increase (up 5.1 percent or $82 million).
  • Motor vehicle retailing had the largest volume increase (up 4.2 percent) and the second largest value increases (up 4.9 percent or $81 million).
