Spirits and spirit-based drinks

Spirits and spirit-based drinks volume rises

The volume of spirit-based drinks (containing 23 percent alcohol or less) increased 2.1 million litres (3.5 percent) to 60.9 million litres.

The volume of spirits (containing more than 23 percent alcohol) decreased 352,000 litres (2.7 percent) to 12.6 million litres.

As a proportion of the total volume of alcoholic beverage available for consumption in the year ended September 2013, spirit-based drinks contributed 13.1 percent, compared with 13.0 percent in the previous year.  Spirits contributed 2.7 percent, compared with 2.9 percent in the previous year.
