Overseas Merchandise Trade: January 2015

Key facts

For January 2015 compared with January 2014:

  • Exports fell $371 million (9.1 percent) to $3.7 billion.
  • Milk powder, butter, and cheese led the fall.
  • Exports to China fell $635 million (52 percent) to $597 million.
  • Imports were down $142 million (3.8 percent) to $3.6 billion.
  • Intermediate goods led the fall.
  • There was a trade surplus of $56 million (1.5 percent of exports).
