International Travel and Migration: January 2015

Key facts

In January 2015 compared with January 2014:   

  • Visitor arrivals (302,400) were up 10,000. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
    • Australia (up 9,800)
    • Korea (up 2,000)
    • China (down 4,400). 
  • Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (133,800) were up 5,900. The biggest changes were in departures to:
    • the United States (up 1,700)
    • Fiji (up 1,400)
    • Australia (up 1,300).

In January 2015, seasonally adjusted figures showed a net gain of 5,500 migrants.
