International Travel and Migration: May 2015

Key facts

In May 2015 compared with May 2014:   

  • Visitor arrivals (176,700) were up 15,300. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
    • China (up 7,700)
    • Australia (up 3,700)
    • the United States (up 1,200).
  • Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (209,400) were up 11,200. The biggest changes were in departures to:
    • Australia (up 3,700)
    • the United States (up 2,200)
    • Fiji (up 1,700)
    • China (up 1,600)
    • Thailand (up 1,100).

In May 2015, seasonally adjusted figures showed a net gain of 5,100 migrants.
