International Travel and Migration: October 2015

Key facts

In October 2015 compared with October 2014:   

  • Visitor arrivals (229,400) were up 18,800. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
    • China (up 7,500)
    • Australia (up 5,900).
  • Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (217,000) were up 10,000. The biggest changes were in departures to:
    • the United Kingdom (up 4,600)
    • China (up 1,500)
    • the United States (down 2,100).

In October 2015, seasonally adjusted figures showed a record net gain of 6,200 migrants.
