International Travel and Migration: September 2015

Key facts

In September 2015 compared with September 2014:   

  • Visitor arrivals (217,000) were up 23,700. The biggest changes were in arrivals from:
    • Australia (up 10,100)
    • China (up 7,500)
    • Japan (up 1,200)
    • the United States (up 1,000).
  • Overseas trips by New Zealand residents (235,600) were up 15,900. The biggest changes were in departures to:
    • Australia (up 6,300)
    • the United Kingdom (up 3,600)
    • Fiji (up 2,800)
    • the United States (up 1,700).

In September 2015, seasonally adjusted figures showed a record net gain of 5,600 migrants.
