Source: Ministry of Social Development (using data from Statistics NZ’s Household Economic Survey)
Purpose of the survey or data: The Household Economic Survey collects information on household expenditure and income. The information is used:
- to contribute to the reweighting of the Consumers Price Index (CPI)
- to supply expenditure statistics for use in estimating Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
- to provide an indication of the overall living standards of New Zealanders.
